End Of Transitional Arrangements for HIP's - November 2008

The Housing Minister, Margaret Beckett has confirmed the ending of the current transitional arrangements for the HIP Regulations.

This now means that more components for the HIP are required prior to marketing as opposed to just having confirmation of the HIP order in place.

From 1st April 2009 the following will need to be in place prior to marketing

    • Index of the documents contained in the HIP
    • Energy Performance Certificate or Predicted Energy Assessment *
    • Sale Statement
    • Land Registry Title documents and Plan (or SIM result where the title is unregistered)

Dominic Toller, Director of Marketing and New Business at our chosen HIP provider, LMS comments:

"We are delighted that the Government has decided to complete the roll out to all properties. The anti-HIP camp is going to have to face facts now - the packs are legitimately established within the housing market and mandatory for all properties before they are put up for sale. We urge RICS, The Law Society, the CML and other trade bodies to accept that HIPs are now a "done deal." It is time for everyone in the industry to make this a workable initiative and help, rather than hinder the revolution in house buying that is long overdue.
